Snowed In

We got some snow here in St. Louis; about a foot in our yard (it continued to snow after this photo was taken).

We still have our Christmas garland up. We’re going to be “those people” until the snow goes away.

Fortunately my work called me at 8:30 last night and let me know I didn’t have to go in.

That allowed me to spend yesterday napping and drinking hot beverages from my warm perch inside.

It’s still cold today but at least the sun’s out.

Even with the sun there was risk of frostbite so when I went out to shovel I wore two pairs of pants, four pairs of socks, and two pairs of gloves in addition to the normal bundling up apparel. Basically only my eyes were exposed.

The snow drift made my Altima look like a Prius.

I’m thankful our street always gets plowed (not all city streets do) but the plows end up pushing the snow up against our cars, forcing us to dig them out.

I put most of the snow in the boulevard. As you can see, shoveling it more than covered my strength workout for the week!

I also made some piles of snow in the yard, one of which proved too tempting to just let sit there. I did what I used to do all the time as a kid; a forward flip into the pile.

The world looks extra beautiful from a giant pile of snow.

Then I jumped around the pile, completely demolishing it. I enjoyed acting like a five year old.

Now I defrost!

  1. Yuck! I grew up in Ohio, so I’ve had enough of that weather. Happy to be in Texas climate – even though it’s really cold here today too!

    • I enjoy the snow when I don’t need to go anywhere, but it can be very inconvenient when I need to get to work, likely tomorrow. I think I cleared enough of a path to make it possible, but slow.

  2. Yesterday, my husband relieved me of shoveling duty, so I did what any adult would do. I made snow angels and went sledding. We have an awesome hill in our yard. I really enjoyed just lying their, watching the snow fall.

  3. You have a much better outlook on this weather then I do! I just want to hibernate like a bear

    • Oh, I like to hibernate too. I enjoy this weather most from inside. 🙂 The good news is I got to work today and it only took me 33 minutes, which is not much longer than normal. But I stuck to main roads and drove 20-25mph.
